WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?

Christmas is taking pleasure in the idea of giving a gift to someone you don't like.

Christmas is reveling in the glee others get in receiving from you something that you made. Creating gifts is an act of love, buying them is an act of commerce.

Christmas is the intellectual challenge of making someone happy on one specific day that is no better or worse than any other day.

Christmas is bows, ribbons, wrapping paper, and tissue. It's lights, warmth, comfort food, firs, wreaths, ornament hooks, and scotch tape.

Christmas, by virtue of its convenient date, is something you can spend the whole year planning for.

Christmas is reconnecting with people you've let slip through cracks in time.

Christmas is suddenly realizing that you forgot someone you adore, and correcting that lapse.
